Fire Alarm
Panels, addressable devices and cause-and-effect logic, with information the operator can read.
Addressable fire alarm, voice evacuation and graphic annunciation — designed in coordination with applicable project requirements, authority processes and life-safety expectations where relevant.

02 / The discipline
A fire alarm system is the announcement layer of the wider fire and life-safety strategy — panels, devices, cause-and-effect logic and the operating information that reaches the people who have to act.
Zentrum designs the alarm system with the fire consultant, the architect and the MEP consultant so the physical, logical and operational design align with the strategy for the building.
Part of Safety Systems.
03 / Zones and layers
How the system is layered.
Panel and repeater locations, containment, cause-and-effect logic and interfaces to the wider building are all coordination work — best worked through with the fire consultant, the architect and the MEP consultant at design stage.
- 01 /
Detection
Detectors and devices positioned for the room they serve — ceiling heights, airflow, finishes and use.
- Smoke
- Heat
- Manual call points
- 02 /
Circuits and wiring
Loops, containment and segregation planned with the electrical package rather than around it.
- 03 /
Panels
Control equipment located where it can be reached, read and maintained by the people responsible for it.
- 04 /
Notification
Sounders, voice messaging and visual devices coordinated with the interior and the acoustic conditions.
- Sounders
- Voice
- Visual
- 05 /
Interfaces
Defined interfaces to access control, building management and communication, with life safety taking priority.
- 06 /
Records
As-built drawings, device schedules and handover documentation kept with the building.
Outcome /
A calm, documented, maintainable installation.
Zentrum coordinates with applicable project requirements, authority processes and life-safety expectations where relevant. We are not an inspection or certification body.
04 / Design principles
What the design is held to.
Panels and networks
Panel arrangement and panel-to-panel networking planned against the building.
Addressable devices
Detectors, call points and sounders addressed against zones and cause-and-effect.
Cause-and-effect
Cause-and-effect matrices worked out against the fire strategy.
Interfaces
Structured interfaces to HVAC, access, lifts and public address as required.
Operating information
Panel graphics and repeater positions planned around the response team.
01 /
Coordination with applicable project requirements and life-safety expectations where relevant
02 /
Voice-evacuation zoning for towers and large residential complexes
03 /
Coordination with the building's life-safety contractor
05 / Where it applies
Where this is installed.
Workplaces and headquarters
Offices where the systems are judged on how little attention they need day to day.

06 / Coordination and delivery
How the package runs.
- 01 /Read the fire strategy and understand what the alarm system is being asked to do.
- 02 /Design panels, networks, devices and cause-and-effect against that strategy.
- 03 /Coordinate interfaces with HVAC, access, lifts and communication.
- 04 /Install, test, commission and document each element.
- 05 /Hand over a system and documentation the operating team can maintain.
- 01Addressable panels, sounders, strobes and voice evacuation
- 02Graphic annunciator at the security desk
- 03Integration with BMS for HVAC shutdown and smoke control
- 04Documentation pack and inspection support for applicable authority processes
07 / Related systems
What this works with.
- Fire DetektionAspirating and addressable detection for towers, data centres, warehouses and sensitive interiors.
- Fire SuppressionClean-agent, gas and pre-action suppression for data halls, electrical rooms and sensitive interiors.
- Building Intercom & PAVideo intercom at the gate, audio intercom at the door, PA across every floor — one integrated fabric.
- Safety Systems
- The alarm layer coordinates with detection and suppression across the fire strategy.
- Connected Communication
- Public address and voice can carry emergency messages where designed to do so.
- Building Automation
- Life-safety signals take priority over comfort logic through dedicated interfaces.
- Electronic Security
- Access and door release coordinate with cause-and-effect.
