Outdoor terrace and pool deck in the evening, an environment audio has to survive

Outdoor AV

Weather-rated audio and display for terraces, gardens, plazas and façades — built for the climate.

Weather-sealed audio and display for façades, plazas, gardens and outdoor events across the UAE.

02 / The brief

Outdoor AV is not indoor AV moved outside. Heat, sun, dust and weather all set the boundaries within which displays, speakers and cabling have to perform.

Zentrum designs outdoor AV for the actual environment — the climate, the surface, the sightlines and the way outdoor space is meant to be used.

Part of Audio Visual Systems.

03 / Signal and space

From source to the room itself.

Outdoor cabling, containment and equipment positions are best resolved during the landscape and hardscape design, not after. Bringing outdoor AV into that conversation early is what allows the system to live within the garden rather than sit on top of it.

  1. 01 /

    Sources

Streaming, broadcast, laptops, media servers and room devices, kept in a rack rather than on show.

  2. 02 /

    Rack and processing

Amplification, switching, processing and control in a ventilated, serviceable equipment position.

  3. 03 /

    Distribution

Cabling and network paths carrying audio and video to each zone with the bandwidth the format needs.

  4. 04 /

    Zones

Rooms and areas treated individually — a cinema, a lounge, a meeting room and a terrace are different problems.

  5. 05 /

    Room treatment

Speaker positions, screen geometry, sightlines and acoustic detail resolved with the interior design.

  6. 06 /

    Control

One way to operate the room that a guest, a resident or a meeting host can use without being taught.

Outcome /

The equipment disappears; the experience does not.

Sound and image belong to the architecture rather than sitting on top of it.

Conceptual audio visual diagram: sources feed a rack holding processing and amplification, distribution carries signal to individual zones, room treatment resolves speaker and screen positions with the interior, and one control surface operates the result.

04 / Design principles

What makes the room work.

  • Outdoor displays

Displays selected for brightness, thermal performance and ingress protection.

  • Outdoor speakers

Landscape and architectural speakers chosen for coverage and weather resistance.

  • Cabling and containment

Weather-resistant cabling routed with the landscape and hardscape design.

  • Control

Control interfaces that fit outdoor use — from garden to poolside to terrace.

  • Coordination with landscape

Positions, orientations and finishes coordinated with the landscape designer.
